Kickstart the Adventure...
The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a super-fun live stage show in the style of old timey radio that throws down every month in Los Angeles. I've been lucky enough to see it maybe half a dozen times, even luckier to have befriended its creators, Ben Acker & Ben Blacker, and double-plus lucky to be a guest star in last week's sold-out shows here in Brooklyn. Your TV pal and mine, James "Dr. Venture" Urbaniak is just one member of the incredibly talented cast, the rest of whom I've slowly been poaching all year for Venture Bros. voices. Those of you who don't live in LA should check out their podcasts.

And now they're trying to raise funds to publish a hardcover graphic novelization of said thrilling adventures. Which maybe I'll get to do some art for.

Check out their Kickstarter page HERE, give 'em a bit of money, and get some cool schwag.

We Love You,

With your busy schedule, where do you find the time to participate with talented actors?

Season 5 cannot come early enough...Well I guess Oct. 28th is early enough...

Take care and have a great October.

VB led me to follow Urbaniak on Twitter, which led me to Thrilling Adventure Hour, a show that helps to keep me sane during the long dry spells of VB. I'd nearly forgotten about that trail of bread crumbs, so finding out that you did the Brooklyn show of TAH has me sky high--can't wait to hear the podcast.

And yeah, you absolutely should make an appearance in the comic medium, VB schedule allowing.

You had me at Paget Brewster.

old timey radio show

i guess id need to see it

but if YOU say its worth it id probably like it

Ah, the Golden Age of Radio...

That's really neat, I'll have to look into that.

Every once in a while I come across something that's based on the old radio shows, or the era of them. Always found it all intriguing. If you get a chance check out the movies "Radioland Murders" and "Haunted Honeymoon". Also, there was a TV permorfamce about fifteen years ago of Jules Vernes' classic, "From the Earth to the Moon", voiced on stage by John Delance, William Shatner, and Leonard Nemoy. The style they perform it in is as an old radio show.

I sure hope you managed to get Paul F. Tompkins to do a voice this season. That would be killer.

Sadly, no. But fingers crossed for season 6! We did get Paget, though, and Gilian Jacobs, who's a frequent Thrilling Adventure guest. I've got my eye on a few of the fellas, too.

Paget on VB?! Don't tell me: she plays Sheila's brother, right?

Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me, I've been meaning to give this a listen.

Is there any video of the Brooklyn shows? I would have come up for the show if I'd known about it.

Very happy to hear about Paget. I loved her (yes, I think I actually fell in love with her via her voice) as Birdgirl in the late lamented Harvey Birdman show.

I'm currently watching every single VB episode (dosage: 2 shows before bed) in preparation for the new season. I think of it as 'training'.

I'd forgotten about the reference to "The Amazing Cosmic Awareness of Duffy Moon"(I think it was Hank in "Dia de los Dangerous") which always makes me laugh. I watched it recently on YouTube (Jim Backus was in it!). The face he makes when using his 'cosmic awareness' and the "you can do it, Duffy Moon" phrase is hilarious.

I met The Gruber at a Cinematic Titanic show last year, would be awesome to hear him!

Didn't get him this season, but you're right... he'd be awesome. He'd make an excellent G. Gordon Lightfoot, if we ever get around to writing that character. Nice guy, too.

I'm up for anything retro/where I can see more of your art.

How did it take 2 years to make 10 episodes of Venture Bros? They are only half hour episodes and the wait is just beyond belief. What happened after season 5 was finished? Take a vacation instead of getting right to season 6. Now we are gonna have to wait another 2 years for what.. another shity 10 episodes? Its like they dont want the fans to watch the show anymore, we arent gonna wait forever. People grow up and move on, we love Venture Bros but this bullshit is fuckking killing it for everyone..
