The Venture Bros. Season 4 vol. 2 DVD
and The Venture Bros. Complete Season 4 Blu-Ray hit the shelves today!

(But you already knew that.)

And so...

Hello again. I've been promising Big News for a while, but have had to keep it under wraps. Mostly because contracts take a long time to work out (even when all parties agree to their contents) and the PR department* would prefer to be professional and make a proper to-do about the timing and presentation of said Big News.

However...

It just occurred to me that Doc and I mouthed off about our big news all over the DVD commentaries, assuming when we recorded them in November/December that this would all be public knowledge by now. And since our fans seem to enjoy listening to the commentary tracks the day our DVDs come out--and then immediately discussing them on the internet (FIRST!)--this particular cat will soon be out of this particular bag anyway. So who better than this confessed cat person to deliver it safely?

Herewith the cat:

We've recently signed a new contract with adultswim to produce two more seasons of The Venture Bros.

Doc and I officially started writing last week. Though, in truth, we technically started writing season 5 last year when we accidentally brainstormed a handful of (we think) pretty hot new stories while we were writing the season 4 finale. Our goal is to have enough scripts to comfortably begin pre-production by June.

But wait...that's not all!

Our contract also includes a long-form (60-90 min.) Venture Bros. special. Don't ask me when we'll make it, what it's going to be about, or whether it'll be on TV or direct-to-DVD, because we don't have a clue yet. Nevertheless: good news!

Tell them what else they get, Jackson...

We've been secretly working on an 11 minute Venture Bros. special for the past couple of months. A sort of light-hearted, one-off little aperitif we're producing and animating entirely in-house at Titmouse Studios in NY and LA. It will premiere some time this summer.

I think that's enough for you to chew on for a while. More news later as it develops. Now go buy some DVDs or something...

We Love You,

JP

*Apologies to the PR department for the whole cat thing. And also for incorrectly referring to you as the "Puerto Rican Department"** in several emails. I have since been informed that PR stands for "Public Relations."

**Apologies to Puerto Ricans, and Puerto Rico. Please disregard all those emails. They were intended for the Public Relations department at adultswim.

Yesterday I was watching a show called Attack of the Show on G4 TV. They talked about season 4 of The Venture Brothers on their "new releases" segment(they might have been talking about the DVD instead of the Blue-Ray release). They gave it a five out of five.

They're also holding a Venture Brothers giveaway:

I literally just logged on here after watching the entire DVD front-to-back, and was treated to this AWESOME news of two more seasons! Every time I watch Operation P.R.O.M. it just gets even more incredible. Thanks for creating the best show on TV.

FUN FACT: The laser-etched Venture "rocks glass" is technically a candle holder. At least that's what it was called at the Dollar Tree where we found it. But you boys feel free to fill it with any substance your big ol' hearts desire!

Sweet gravy awesome. Any idea if Thirlwell will make a Venture Bros. ST Vol.2?

-not crying out of sheer joy, okay-

You have a Puerto Rican department?

Congratulations!

As promised, you delivered a very musical end to season 4. Any more of that in store for future seasons? Any more songs in the collective heart that is Astrobase go! ?

Just got season 4 on blu-ray, keep up the great work guys, it's awesome to hear 2 more seasons are locked in.

*recently wondered if there is significance to Dr. Venture wearing a pink suit (his old colors) to prom instead of a blue one (his new colors)*

GREAT news. Love the show. Got the new DVD, and I heard you and Doc hint that there won't be a Hatred action figure because some places wouldn't sell it (because of his pedophilia). Well Family Guy has a pedophile character as well (albeit more one note), and there's a figure of him.

So how many awards would the 60 to 90 minute special be eligible that you guys would be interested in submitting it to? Is that something you've thought about thus far?

Also, I'm curious about the special. Did Adult Swim propose it to you guys or did you guys propose it to them?

I love you guys.

I just watched Operation PROM again. Man I love that episode so much.

Keep up the great work.

Serious Question...

Do you fine gentlemen think that you'll likely do Dragon Con 2011? Because my wife, brother in law and I would LOVE to spend $800+ on a plane from Phoenix, $350+ on getting in, food, merch, booze expenses, time off of work, etc... But we'd be going pretty much just for the team Venture stuff. We aren't interested in going if you and Doc aren't gonna be there. We realize that it's very early in the game for a concrete answer, but do you personally think it's likely? If so, I'd like to begin planning it.

and for over a grand YOU BASTARDS BETTER MAKE IT WORTH IT BY SIGNING MY PHANTOM LIMB TOY... ;-D J/K

Long story short, please keep us updated since the sooner we know the sooner we can plan it. Thankies and we love you!!!

At least two more seasons?!? AWESOME!!!! I've got all the existing ones on DVD.

CONGRATULATIONS! (and a wee suggestion).

Congrats on the great news and you really are spoiling us with the special.

Just a thought I had while listening to the commentaries but... you mentioned that you wanted to give the Investors voices and that they'd be based on famous Dracula actors. You then said that while Lugosi and Oldman were fine, you weren't really into doing Langella as the third.
It struck me that an ideal third voice would be Christopher Lee, no? Only because I'm a Brit expat and so he's the one I grew up with from all the Hammer films that were endlessly shown on TV.
Just a thought.

We love you right back.
