The secret files of the Ventureverse

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

So this is it. Tonight is the big finale of the longest Venture Bros. season (or pair of half-seasons) ever. It's been a long time coming. A bit of a departure from our previous season finales in a lot of ways, but I won't go into that for fear of spoiling...

This is a bit of an experiment, this hour-long thing. And for the record, we can't thank adultswim enough for letting us expand our creative horizons and make this thing. For us, it was a very liberating experience and helped salvage our souls from the ravages of a difficult season to produce.

A lot of extra time and love went into this episode, from everyone involved (thank you, VB crew!) We certainly hope you enjoy it...and we'll be checking in with you every commercial break to make sure you do.

More news soon...

We Love You,

I don't mean to fanboy out here, but I just have to say that you and Doc are the best writers on American television. I think it's amazing that you two won't allow your characters to get diluted and have enough balls to let them grow in ways that fans would never dream of them growing.

As an aspiring writer, I can only say that I idolize both of you and wish to someday perfect my craft as well as you two have.

By the way, this season's finale was by far one of my favorite episodes of the series. The choice of the Pulp song was just perfect, as was everything else in the episode.

Also, I think it's awesome you respond to fans. (hint, hint)

Holy Mother of Fuck

You guys really have outdone yourselves with the finale. It's shot up to the top of my list of favorite VB episodes ever. Having a song in it from my favorite album from the last 15 years or so didn't hurt. And yes, Like A Friend wasn't on the original UK release of This Is Hardcore, but still.

Storywise, you guys have advanced to a new level with this one. I know you always say you're just writing a comedy series, but count me in as one of those viewers who appreciate your deft handling of character--sometimes for laughs, sometimes not. There's a level of depth that's simply not there on your average Adult Swim series--Boondocks is the only other series that even comes close.

Oh, and I'm starting to think that lamp guy above might have something there--you could pull off a kickass story about the pottery collecting community. Maybe you guys oughta think about it.

Victor Echo November Music

obviously crazy about your show, gotta love it!! else how would i wind up here....
anyway, blablabla, i have a question: Season 2 / Episode 6 - Victor Echo November, has an awesome tune playing in the background in Brock's car while he drives the boys to their date
0:06:55 to 0:07:35 - any chance to find out what that is???? I got the Thirlwell soundtrack and it aint on there.... please....

Re: Victor Echo November Music

My memory is good, but so good that I can name a track from the score of a four year old episode by its timecode. But my guess is it was one of JG Thirlwell's Black Sabbath-style soundalike songs that he'd often use for whatever's playing on Brock's car radio or boom box. And no, he didn't include that one on the soundtrack CD, so it's not available.

One Bad Ass Season Finale!!

To Jackson and Doc,

I just want to thank you both from the bottom of my heart for this season`s finale.

I'd say the feelings it left me with were akin to say getting a blowjob from Jean Grey (Phoenix form of-course)

while Jessica Rabbit is giving me a bombastically

backbreaking big-breasted back massage

(included with some reach-around action) with all of us

covered in honey and olive-oil while said honey and oil is

licked off by ferrets and ant-eaters and all of us slowing

descend into a black-hole and that in-spite of all this;

knowing everything is gonna be alright.

May your creative wellsprings never run dry gentlemen and many blesses to you both.

Best Regards,
Matt Jackson

Random question: Is there any chance of Hank and Dermott's song being put up for download somewhere, like the song that 21 and 24 played for the Monarch's wedding was? I thought it was hilariously great and would love to have it.

I'm not asking JP, but does anyone else think Monstroso survived? He is a big man.

Shore Leave told 21 they were playing a "shell game" with Monstroso, and they only way to play a shell game is to use 3 shells. So, maybe there's another Monstroso floating around somewhere....

Thanks for the awesome season JP!

Hey Jackson!

I just wanted to thank you for this great season (not that the others weren't awesome; but this one was particularly epic!)

After seeing the last few seconds of the season finale, I really felt inspired and set out to make a 3D model of Brock. Gotta love the Swedish murder machine! :)

Anyways, it would be awesome if you could check him out!
Here's a still image:
And you can see a turntable here:

He's still very much a WIP, but feedback would be appreciated!

You, Doc and the rest of the VB crew rock! Can't wait to see next season! Thanks for the awesomeness :)

Hey JP,

Here's another screenshot of the Brock model in action:

Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks once again for an amazing Season, and a transcendent season finale.

One thing that's been bothering me though, and as a major fan of the show I thought it was worth voicing- was the "Who Killed 24?" plot ever really wrapped up? It seems like it was acknowledged, but never really resolved. I've watched every episode this season, and even though it seems like there is really only one (or two, kinda) option, we never got a real direct answer.

If there is a Season 5, should we expect one? Or should we be content in theorizing who pressed that remote detonator?

Check out the opening scene in the first episode of season 4.1 (airing tonight at 10PM EST.) It shows 21 running from the direction of the explosion that destroyed the MonarchMobile, cradling the severed head of 24 in his arms. Remember, the Monarch put the booby trap inside HELP-Rr before he released him from his interrogation; 24 made the mistake of fastening his seatbelt in the MonarchMobile and couldn't get it loose before the the bomb inside HELP-Rr went off.
To put in in the language of the game of Clue:
The Monarch, In the MonarchMobile, With a booby-trapped HELP-Rr.
In the real world, the courts would charge the Monarch with 2nd degree manslaughter, or at least Death by Depraved Indifference.

amazing finale to a great season(s)...

who was she? who was the girl that just bummed you out cuz she hooked up with that D-bag that everyone hated? there were 3 that really stand out for me from college...

but mol and monstroso???
bummer man...

dear powers that be at adult swim:
these guys kick ass, i will spend my hard earned $ on the stuff they produce- let them make it and i will buy it, just dont be like monstroso and cut them a crappy deal

Promos in Season 4 vol 2

I was wondering if you guys were going to include the promos used for and during the season finale in volume 2? I found um pretty entertaining so Id hope they'd b on there.

When will the answers arrive?

Is the word "POE" written in the clouds in the opening of "Bright Lights, Dean City"?

Re: When will the answers arrive?

Reading a little too deep, there, bolgia...that's your imagination.

I can think of no other TV show that actually makes me laugh out loud.
Thank you so much for what you do.

You and Doc are the best and I'd really appreciate it if you would give me back my iPod and quit making fun of my frequently played songs on every episode.

Forcing others to listen to Fun Boy Three's version of My Lips Are Sealed provides a nice little Schadenfreude.

Just got around to watching the season finale-freaking outstanding. Thank you so much for what you do.

Get some rest, can't wait for next season. You rock.
